Every day I start the day with 3 headings

Single thing that has to be done

Things I’ve promised others

Other things

Single thing that has to be done

This is the thing if it didn’t get done today I’d be sad. Hopefully its high-impact. Hopefully it’s satisfying. But it’s the one thing that I have to get done.

Things I’ve promised others

This is anything I’ve told someone else I will get done. These things don’t necessarily have to get done, I can always reach out and extend a deadline but I do need to either do them or let people know they won’t get done. Normally these things will get done too. Sometimes the single thing that has to be done is something I’ve promised others but it will only sit in the first section.

Other things

No rules here, it could still be important, it could still be urgent its just not something that is my single top priority task and its not something that I’ve made a promise to someone else I’d do.

Why I like it?

This system sits well with me for some reason. I like that I only have one thing I really and truly have to do. That helps with my anxiety and stops me feeling overwhelmed. I like that I have a record of things I’ve promised others so I’m not letting people down or forgetting about them. The main thing I like about it is I do it, every day now for 27 days. I’m not sure I’ve ever been this consistent with any task management system before so long may it last. I definitely know its better then no system which is where I’ve ended up with a lot of times before.
